Google takes GPS to the next level with AI

One of the consistent challenges when navigating with Google Maps is figuring out the right direction to go: sure, the app tells you to go north – but many times you’re left wondering, “Where exactly am I, and which way is north?” Over the years, we’ve attempted to improve the accuracy of the blue dot with tools like GPS and compass, but found that both have physical limitations that make solving this challenge difficult, especially in urban environments.

Twitter gives the Bitcoin Tippin servers the Internet hug of death, crashes them

While Jack Dorsey, the chief executive of Twitter and Square, only overtly pledged his allegiance to Bitcoin in early-2018, he has rapidly become a fabled character in the crypto community. Some may saw the Silicon Valley mainstay is clamoring for attention, but it has quickly become apparent that he truly is enamored with this space.

Ethereum Constantinople upgrade gets the go ahead, activating Feb 28th

This is the project’s first named upgrade in over a year, accentuating its importance. Here’s BlockGeek’s breakdown of the upgrade, including the deets and what it means for the popular crypto project.

Tesla’s battery rakes in $29 million in cash over 2018

The Tesla big battery at Hornsdale in South Australia pulled in revenue of €18 million ($A29 million) in calendar 2018, well ahead of the expectations of its owner and operator, the French renewable energy developer Neoen. In its first annual revenue declaration, made after its stock exchange listing late last year, the Paris-based Neoen says the performance of what is officially known as the Hornsdale Power Reserve was ahead of expectations “owing to its technical characteristics,, particularly its highly responsive approach.”

Breakthrough in the search for graphene-based electronics

For 15 years, scientists have tried to exploit the “miracle material” graphene to produce nanoscale electronics. On paper, graphene should be great for just that: it is ultra-thin—only one atom thick and therefore two-dimensional, it is excellent for conducting electrical current, and holds great promise for future forms of electronics that are faster and more energy efficient. In addition, graphene consists of carbon atoms – of which we have an unlimited supply.

SpaceX reuses and lands stage 1 booster for the third time, prepares to destroy it

Falcon 9 first stage has landed on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, completing this booster’s third launch and landing. Highest reentry heating to date. Burning metal sparks from base heat shield visible in landing video. Fourth relight scheduled for April. High probability of this particular rocket getting destroyed by Dragon supersonic abort test. Otherwise, at least 20 or 30 missions for Falcon 9. Starship will take over before the F9 fleet reaches end of life.
